Why Is Everyone Else Doing Better Than Me?

Posted on November 14, 2017 at 9:35 AM

Does it appear that "everyone else" is making more money, increasing their email list subscribers, hitting the highest numbers, and succeeding easily right now?

The Comparison Game is rampant these days, and yet there are mindful ways to stop it in its tracks.

It is important to remain present and powerful in what YOU are doing - and to understand that all that glitters is not gold out there.

I have a new weekly podcast that focuses on Business and Books. In this episode, I'll share with you ways to validate what you are doing and turn your attention away from what others are experiencing.

Pros and Cons of Traditional and Indie Publishing

Posted on August 14, 2017 at 12:55 PM

After going through the process of traditional publishing, I discovered a lot of freedom (and more work) with the self-publishing option.

Is it for you?

In this video on my new business website, learn more about the pros and cons of each approach, including:

- Having creative control

- An author's responsibility for all of the marketing and events

- Making 70% of the list price

- Pricing books on Amazon

- Constant innovation

- Support and best practices from other indie authors

- Access to all online distribution channels

There is no BEST approach - only what is best for YOU.

How To Fight Plagiarism Online

Posted on August 9, 2017 at 4:45 PM

72! That was the number of Google pages that were (allegedly) offering free illegal copies of my books, including audio books. Well, we can't have that, fellow #authors, now can we? #Hecktotheno

Thankfully, there are ways to easily and quickly combat this illegal distribution stuff.

If you want to stay on top of #plagiarism nonsense, then I recommend Blasty.co as an online service to patrol and remove illegal copies of your books, blog content, audio books, and more.

Blasty searches Google for your content and has those Google webpages removed with 1 click.

You can try Blasty for free and check out how it works. It's easy to add your content and link your written material (in various forms) to be verified. You must use Chrome as your browser for it to work. I don't make anything off of sharing this with you - and I hope it helps. I run it a few times a week to stay on top of my content.

Try it out and let me know how it goes for you!

Write On!

"The funny thing about a writing career is that you can only plan so much of it. The high points come out of the blue; the low points seems to drag on longer than anticipated; and the inspired writing phases can pass in the blink of an eye.

Each of my 10 books came about through various inspirations and situations that I never planned or had mapped out. My first book, "The Art of Trapeze", took 5 years to write, and I dealt with rejection from literary agents and discouragement within myself. But once the book was finally complete and released, it took off and sold over 30,000 copies globally, hitting #2 on Amazon behind "12 Years A Slave". (Yes, a small part of me wanted to let those literary agents know about that. :) I then wrote 3 more books in one year, followed by 4 more books in 2 years.

It is a very exciting time to be a writer and to follow this path because there are an incredible amount of resources, strategies, and opportunities for you right now.

And your biggest responsibility through everything is to just keep showing up for yourself.

The Write Beach Retreat will support you no matter where you are in your process because it will be geared to what you are experiencing right now with your writing projects.

It's time to write on - and I would love to help you with whatever writing project is calling to you now."

Do You Have Creative Passion - But Not The Business Stuff?

Posted on July 1, 2017 at 10:20 AM

For the artists, inspired creatives, authors, healers, and spiritual teachers, I would bet you have creative passion in spades.

But maybe all of the numbers, data, and tech-y stuff of your business is causing you to struggle or get discouraged?

Business stuff doesn't have to be scary or intimidating.

Most authors and solopreneurs focus on their passion (yes!) but forget about the important business stuff (craaaaap) until it's too late. Or only when they have an uncomfortable meeting with their tax professional or financial advisor (gulp).

But before you even have to imagine a dreaded conversation about what you're NOT doing right, I can turn all of this business stuff around for you in a practical, easy-to-get it way.

Many people who are pursuing their creative passion don't know what it means to really run a business on their own - and honestly, it might not even be your strength.

But it is your responsibility to know it.

And I can make it easier for you.
