Ascendant or Rising Sign: The astrological sign that is rising over the horizon of your birth location. This is the "face" you show the world and how people may first identify with you. Your ascendent also reflects your expectations of the world, how you want to appear to others, and your physical appearance. 

Your Ascendant is based on the time of your birth.

MC or Midheaven: The astrological sign at the "top" of your chart that represents how you are viewed by the public, your career path, and what you naturally contribute to the world. The energy of this point in the chart will demonstrate your innate authority, your achievement needs, and what you wish to accomplish on a Soul level. These are also the qualities you admire in people, especially authority figures and parents.

Your Midheaven is based on the location of where you were born.
