Have You Met Eleesha Yet?

Posted on June 5, 2011 at 12:45 PM

Eleesha, The Soul Whisperer, is a powerhouse of positivity and inspiration - have you found her yet on Twitter? With over 107,340 Twitter followers (yes, you read that number correctly), Eleesha is connecting with people on a soul level that is both unique and powerful, special and personal. She has written over 5,547 original affirmations and inspirations to share with the world - and something tells me she's just getting started!

Eleesha describes her beautiful journey as a special child who saw "people" that no one else could see. The energy of these beings was so strong that she was afraid to leave the house by herself as a child and was constantly aware of their presence. As she grew up, her abilities to connect to other realms helped her develop her "automatic writing" skills, where words, phrases and predictions came through on paper. Today, that ability has led her to an incredible Twitter following, books, and articles that all spread her ability to speak to the soul.

One of my favorite parts of her work is the audio program 30 Days of Empowerment. Each day has a brief message, no more than 2 minutes, that offers a powerful statement and thought to ponder. These are perfect tidbits for an iPod and to listen to whan you need a quick pick-me-up. I like to put one on during my treadmill time as the endorphins are moving through my body and powerful messages are moving through my mind.

The Soul Whisperer will be available for purchase soon. Check out her website for more updates!

The Book Every Artist Needs - Today.

Posted on May 27, 2011 at 9:28 AM

Finally! A brilliant, fabulous woman has come along to show all of us creative types how to create a business plan that appeals to our right-brain dominance! (Translation: We have another reason to play with colors, texture, form and visualization - score.)

Jennifer Lee is a Life Coach who understands why a business plan is needed for any successful creative enterprise - but she knows that not every person gets excited about Excel worksheets, numbers, goal-setting and putting creative ideas into measurable categories.

So yay for us, she wrote The Right-Brain Business Plan™ as a practical and inspiring guide to making money with your creativity. The days of being a "sacrificing artist" with no clear road to success are OVER. Check out a few details from her website:

"This book is for you if:

  • You’re a creative entrepreneur, artist, health and wellness professional, educator, coach, designer, writer, photographer, non-profit leader or all-around creative soul wanting to make a positive impact with your entrepreneurial endeavors
  • You hate the idea of writing a business plan, but you know you need one
  • Numbers numb you out"

Jennifer has a wealth of information on her website, including some really wonderful free goodies to download. And I mean *really wonderful* because there are audio clips, play sheets, a free poster and some worksheets to fool around with. If an author puts this much effort into giving away free supporting materials, it always means the book is top-notch.

The Right-Brain Business Plan is a perfect gift for creative college grads and anyone starting their own business this year. My copy has many bookmarked pages in only a few short weeks. I gave this book to my mom for Mother's Day, and it was exactly what she was looking for to get her creative business moving forward.

"Glad No Matter What" - That's Right!

Posted on May 13, 2011 at 8:06 AM

"This is not a book about feeling glad when you don't - how annoying! This is a book about finding and living from the glad parts in all of your feelings. I call it practical gladness." - SARK

Oh yeeees! Gotta love someone who acknowledges how annoying it is when people go to "love, light and bliss" in an artificial way! SARK's latest book, Glad No Matter What, is a testament to authentic human emotions and honoring grief, loss and change. It's hard to know how to navigate that terrain well at times, and this book is a great resource for moving through an honest process. I love that. It's the way it should be.

Glad No Matter What is an excellent guide for self-reflection and emotional honesty. SARK has written numerous sources of inspiration over the years and this might be one of her best contributions to date. The colors, the images, the insights and the messages create a book of joyful power. The stories are personal and real, as if talking on the couch to a friend who is experiencing life-changing situations today. SARK is your friend, your sister, your confidante, your counselor. This is one book to keep on hand no matter what.

Where Will You Be In Five Years?

Posted on May 7, 2011 at 9:02 AM

I received The 5 Book as a birthday present from my dad and consider it one of my all-time favorite gifts. I love books, so often times anything in that category is appreciated. But this little gem of a find is motivating, inspiring, reflective and cool, so it checks all requirements of conscious living.

The 5 Book by Dan Zadra poses the question, "Where will you be five years from now?" As you ponder those big notions and possibilities, there is space for writing and list-making to stay on track for your goals. Writing a Mission Statement is encouraged. And if you are someone (like myself) who has some vague ideas and rough goals tumbling around somehwere, this book offers a ton of possibilities to consider and adventures to be had.

This is a great book if you're stuck in any way and want to get things moving ahead in your life. Attend a World Class Event? Run a Marathon? Visit the Home of Your Ancestors? All over it. I love flipping through it just to get inspired for the upcoming weekend.

Hello, Book Friends!

Posted on March 27, 2011 at 1:34 PM

Hellllo, book friends!

I am sooo happy to see you again! It has been a long time, but we are finally reunited. I've missed you. (Although I have forgotten I owned some of you...) You have so much to many secrets to reveal... so many insights to offer. I can't wait to get to know you again... the memories of each locale are already flooding back so quickly...

Venice: A foggy trip entering canals at dusk. A cappucinno in St. Mark's Square. The endless maze of narrow streets. Seafood on every menu and vegetables being sold on boats. Grand piazzas with water level entry doors.

Rome: Flowing fountains, ongoing plazas, unexpected sculptures around each corner. Grand structures wider than my eyes can open. And oh, the seafood... pizza... handsome men... high heels on cobblestone walkways.

Corsica: Warm beach lagoons. Walking, hiking, ascending rocky trails. Cliff-dwelling fortress cities. Independent, fighting spirit coupled with friendly, welcoming smiles.

Florence: Open air plaza sculptures. Gold, jewelry, leather gloves, scarves, paper. Medici palaces with endless gardens. Small cars, big museums, long roads. Crowded morning cafes.

Barcelona: Gaudi architecture, color, whimsy. Bright colors, vibrant tapas plates, warm beach strolls. Street performers and animated characters. Soft afternoons for the daily siesta. Lively evenings with taxi rides and smokey smells.

Amsterdam: Passing bike bells and open bike baskets. Streetside stalls selling fish and pastries. Dark coffee shops and loud music. Endless canals reflecting daily life. Umbrellas and sunglasses on hand.

Prague: Bright, tall, impressive buildings. Walking through neighborhoods filled with distinct personalities and characters. Czech beer signs lit up against the backdrop of a strong fighting spirit. Endless walking tours as the sun changes to the moon on the Karlov Bridge.

Paris: Flowing Seine through the changing seasons. Warm soft croissants and baskets of fresh baguettes. Views from atop Notre Dame, l' Arc de Triomphe, Montmartre. Metro pass easily on hand. Walking with the pace of the city during rush hour, Sunday morning and on the Champs Elysees.

Loire Valley Castles: Fields of wide flowers. Flags from battles won and lost. Open windows scouring the nearby landscape. Hollow corridors echoing tourist feet, laughs, whispers. Hints of lavendar and blooms.

South of France: Stretches of soft sand and expansive views. Long, flowing dresses of bright fabrics. Sidewalk ice cream stalls and open boutique doors. Long sunsets and big moon light.

And these three books each carry a distinct special memory:

Paris Circulation: The city map and metro guide kept in my purse for instant reference almost daily.

The Cat Who Walked Across France: I flew both of my cats over to Paris from Seattle. That was an adventure just in itself, as one ran away and then returned 3 weeks later.

Drinkology Wine : The handy guide regularly used to understand what each wine varietal is, and how to select the best one from the overwhelming amount of quality wines on every store shelf.

Yes, book friends, I am so happy for this literary reunion with you. You have been dearly missed, but I know your arrival is perfectly timed. And I can't wait to discover each story again in the upcoming months...thank you for helping to create Travel Tuesdays!

The 4 Agreements + Another One + Love

Posted on March 22, 2011 at 8:35 PM

Do these titles look familiar to you? Probably yes. They are classics now and have such great timeless insights that we like to check in with them every now and then. If you're looking for a little source of inspiration, here are 3 quick recaps:

The Four Agreements came out in 1997 and has been in every bookstore everywhere (no exaggeration) for almost 14 years now.  Did you read it? Or maybe the better question is, how many times have you referenced it? The 4 agreements are: Be impeccable with your word. Don't take anything personally. Don't make assumptions. Always do your best.

The Mastery of Love debuted in 1999 and examines the wisdom of the heart, the track of love, and all the expectations associated with relationships. Really good stuff if you're searching for answers at the moment. On a soul level, the answers in this book will really speak to your eternal wisdom.

The Fifth Agreement (because we're not done yet) was released in 2009 and is centered on self-mastery and recovering the power of your authentic self. These are popular topics right now, and can be very deeeep, so this is a good resource that breaks down all of the main points.

What we love about their timeless messages is how easy each book is to understand and finish in a cozy afternoon. These little gems can be found for under $10 each on Amazon and Kindle versions are available too!

30 Days to Everyday Miracles - LOVE IT

Posted on March 11, 2011 at 6:27 AM

There are a lot of books out there on creating your best possible life, and they each offer a special take on how to do that. But we have to say that Jennifer Hoffman's guide is one of the most special-ests! (is that even a word? Don't think so...) 30 Days to Everyday Miracles is a standout guide because it provides one lesson a day to focus on over the course of a month, beginning with the most important point of all: You Are Powerful

From there, Jennifer guides the reader through important lessons, exercises and new ways of thinking about how we can create exactly what we want in this one special, incredible life we live. It's much more than the Law of Attraction - it's the Laws of the Universe we're talkin' 'bout here!

And although "miracles" is an enticing word and appeals to a sense of idealism, this book makes sure the reader understands how creating miracles is a commitment. The Miracle Commitment has 7 points revolving around this theme:

"Transforming your life is a commitment you make to yourself. It is a commitment that requires honesty, integrity, courage and trust. You can do this but if you have been living an unfulfilled life, it can be hard to believe that transformation is possible."

If you're looking for a life-changing way to see yourself, your life, and your place in the world, this is a good book to have on hand. It can be purchased on this website for only $14.95, plus shipping.

(Confession: We loved it so much we bought two copies - one to keep, one to share.)

Conscious Cooking, Vegan-Style

Posted on March 5, 2011 at 10:21 AM

Tal Ronnen wrote his award-winning cookbook, The Conscious Cook, featuring vegan recipes back in 2009 and it has been a top-seller since - have you heard about it? It has been praised as an essential guide in any vegan (or non-vegan) kitchen for how Chef Tal creates incredible menu items with substance, flavor, spice and satisfaction.

Chef Tal was a carnivore for years, so when he crossed over to vegetarian, and then vegan dishes,he didn't want to lose any of the taste he had become accustomed to experiencing:

“I became obsessed with the idea of creating vegan food that was just as mouth-watering and delicious as anything I’d ever had as a meat-eater.”

If you're in the need for culinary inspiration, this is worth keeping close to the kitchen counter. Check out Tal Ronnen, some recipes, demonstration videos and his latest inspirations here.

Can't Go Wrong With This Book

Deepak Chopra has so many titles out in the world that it can be difficult to keep track of all of them. He is a master of knowledge and spiritual issues and has so much to say, we doubt there will ever be enough books to express his inner messages.

If you are looking for a new book to have on the nightstand, we recommend this one from waaay back in 2005. It might have been overlooked at the time: The Book of Secrets. The material is broken down into 8 secrets (right when that word became "the word" in New Thought) and there are some really stellar inspirations inside.

If you're interested in checking it out, the typical online places sell it!
